Switching to synthetic oil for older motors?

Hi All,

I just bought 1988, 300E with 150k miles. I would like to switch to Mobil 1. Is it potentially damaging to the motor? Will I get oil leak? I listened to a variety of argument for and against Synthetic Oil for older motors.

Any comments from the experts here?

Thank You,
