Q for those of you who have received high mileage awareds:

Our 300TE has 195,xxx on it, we bought it off lease from the original owner with around 60K miles.

The high mileage award form asks for "odometer mileage" (195K), and "mileage personally driven (if not original owner)", which would be 135K.

Does the 155K level have to be attained by a single owner?

THANKS, sorry for the bandwidth - I want my badge though!

Brian

The award is based upon the mileage of the car regardless of the number of owners. They do also make an individual award based upon the miles actually driven by the individual. Fill out the form correctly and you will receive the award for the car in the mail.

After you've driven MB automobiles a total of 250Kilometers, you will get a lapel pin. Then at 500,000 miles the lapel pin has a diamond chip.

Good luck,

The lapel pin is nothing to write home about (you need a magnifying glass to see the mileage figure) but the actual grille badge is an impressive enamel on brass, and most definitely adds to the distinction of the car. The certificate comes in a folder with an embossed MB star. Although it is in German, it personalizes your vehicle's model and VIN, and is genuinely signed....all rather impressive. Is there any other mfr. in the automotive world who does this kind of award program? I kind of remember seeing Rolls Royce doing it years ago but am uncertain. How many Lexus or Infinities do you see on the road with mileage badges on their grilles?
I hope to be telling you about the 500,000km badge I get for my old faithful 300E in the future.

Where do you get the badges when you achieve the mileage?

There are three levels of achievement:
250,000 km/155,000 miles
500,000 km/312,500 miles
1,000,000 km/625,000 miles

A lapel pen and a personal certificate are given to an owner of a Mercedes-Benz that has driven the vehicle the required mileage. So if on the application you indicate at least 250,000 km/155,000 miles were personally driven by yourself you should get both items in addition to the radiator plaque for the car. The radiator plaque is issued based upon the mileage of the car.

To get the award, you must send an application to MBUSA. Also, note that MBZ has issued a new application form (revised 4/02) for the mileage awards which now has a place for a dealer representative to sign. They may accept the old form, but you might want to get the new form by calling the Customer Assistance Center at MBUSA (1-800-367-6372).

To Evan... go to:

https://secure.mbusa.com/MBServlet/SLController?ID=10824977&machineID=9639786&source=owners&url=http://www.mbusa.com/owners/index.jsp

Then do the "join owners online" thing (click the link about midway down., and go from there. It's not an overnight thing. You need to request the info (form), wait for it to arrive in the mail, then take it to a MB dealer (along with your vehichle) for verification of mileage on the odometer, submit it, and then it takes about 6 weeks to get the goodies.

I'm curious how you all with the stinkin' badges attached them to your grille?

Did you drill holes thru the horizontal plastic to allow it to sit flush or did you just attach the screws thru the grille and not worry about it?

The badge doesn't look too good when I just attach it the latter way I described.

Thanks!

to pmizell....
see the attached pic. In order for the badge to rest squarely between the metal grill rails I had to mark the screw hole location onto the horizontal plastic grille and then took a round file to remove enough of it to allow the screws to go straight through. Otherwise they will go through at an upward angle and the badge will rest cockeyed on one metal rail only.

Could it be.......??

Although I've personally clocked about 32,000 miles on my Benz, the clock does read 212,xxx at this time. From what I gather, it qualifies for the coveted badge for the 155,000 KM mark, correct? I was understanding that it was 250,000 miles, 500,000 miles and so on. If what I read here is correct I'm going down to RBM next weekend to fill out the necessary forms

Yes, it's the mileage on the CAR that gets you the badge.

I have three on my 240D and only one on the 300E. I'm very proud of them.

Have a great day,
