I JUST PURCHASED A 1991 300E. WHEN I RUN MY A/C THE WINDSHEILD GETS A BUILD-UP OF CONDENSATION. I HAVE TO USE MY WIPERS WHEN THE A/C IS ON,ESPECIALLY ON VERY HUMID DAYS. THAT'S EVERY DAY WHERE I LIVE. THE A/C WORKS
VERY WELL. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS ALOT OF COLD AIR COMING OUT OF THE DEFOST VENTS. ANY SUGGESTIONS THANKS RICK |

Well...if the condensantion is too much, maybe the the defrost flaps are not closing all the way, or you have a leak in the evaporator. However, those are worse case scenerios. If the A/C is working fine, you just going to have to live with the condensation and hope for the best... otherwise the whole dash has come out. Big $$$$.
Wrong forum, go to tech help next time like they mentioned before. Welcome! J.H. 86 300e |

Rick, you're OK. Be grateful that it works as well as it does. There will always be a little air bleeding thru the defrost ducts. None of those flaps and valves are air tight. Try setting it on auto and selecting a temp around 18 to 20c. It's not Antartica but it will cut down on some of your condensation. BTW welcome aboard..

J. Ko. The normal setting will also send cold air to the side vent at all temp settings below 20 (or it does on my 300's). Above 20 side vent air decreases as temp setting is increased. But with Max A/C, side vents are being supplied. You can... however, roll them shut.
BTW, what am I doing. This thread belongs in Tech Help and here I am keeping it going in Swap Shop. Damn, another brain fart... ------------------ Jeff Lawrence 1989 300e 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE [This message has been edited by jeffsr (edited 09-14-2000).] |

Perhaps a moderator with could be persuaded to take a moment to use the "Archive/Move" command at the bottom and move it to Tech Help.
No biggie ... anyway, I think that there will be condensation any time the outside temperature of the surface of the window is cooler than the dew point. According to the Weather Channel, a dew point above 60 deg F is uncomfortable, above 70 deg F is downright muggy. Solar radiant heating warms up the glass, so hazy or cloudy weather should mean more fogging. I think MB says in the manual that there is always some air going to the defogger, just enough to prevent fogging during rainy weather. [This message has been edited by Robert W.
