The 020 numbers are the early productions TCMs. With a hose on the snout (tip) and the other end in your month blow air into the shifts solenoids ONLY while applying 12 volts and low amperage to the solenoids, with power you can blow air; no power no air. The shifts solenoids are normally closed. Do not test the other solenoids they are PWM..

Go to the dealer FIRST.

Update

Partial success, the car is driving again.

I am attaching the code sheet .

When driving in S MODE it has very hard shift form 1-st to 2-nd and when comming to a complete stop there is a big bang like the transmission disengages from 1-st gear, after the car is at a stop.
Also it does not shift into 5-th gear .

Dealer tells me that the clutches may be worn, but there was no debries of any kind in the pan before they flashed it and changed the oil, is it possible only 18k miles?

Is it possible that the 1-2/4-5 shift solenoid valve has a problem (only my idea(?

Thank you again

The car will not shift to 5-th gear at all, I was going about 88 miles per hour but rpm went up to 3500rpm.

Is it possible that the 1-2/4-5 shift solenoid valve has a mechanical problem,as the resistance shows as good and that is why it has a hard shift and no 5-th gear?

Thank you

Update

I removed the valve body and solenoids, I checked them for resistance and also for mechanical operation, they all seem to be good.

I still get the hard shift from 1-st to 2-nd.

I am not sure about the 5-th gear, I don't feel it.

The rpm are as follows:

60mph - 2400rpm
70mph - 2800rpm
80mph - 3200rpm

Is it normal or am I driving in the 4-th gear only?

Thanks again

What did the dealer say about code 114 transmission selector lever, that type of malfunction can cause a transmission shift complain? Try shifting the car manually and see if you have 5th gear. Did you spill any liquid on the shifter lever? The fifth gear problem is not valve body / solenoid related. Contact the dealer and ask them about that code. You had mentioned a radiator problem contaminating the transmission. Contact Mercedes, get them to pay for the repairs; they should be responsible; you might get a rebuilt. You should not just take things apart with out knowing the cause of the problem.

C32AMG Thank you for your replay and clarifying that 5-th gear is not valve body / solenoid related.

I will try shifting manually and see about 5-th gear.

The dealer did not mention anything about code 114, but I will call them monday to ask about it.

I personally never spilled anything into the selector lever, but possibly previous owner, as the problem was from day one.

The mecedes will not pay for the repairs as when I bought the car it was in an accident, I have to pay for it myself.

I am hoping to minimize the costs only and learn something in the mean time.

Dealer wants to do diagnostisc and read the adaptation values, they say it would be 2-3hrs ($110 per hr incl taxes) and if I want they can do the transmission oil pressure test at 1.5 hrs.

If I go again to the dealer for diagnostics which ones should I ask for and how much time should it take.?

Does it sound like mechanical or electronic problem with my transmission.?

Thank you again for your help

Find another dealer there are NO pressure taps on a 722.6 transmission. You can not check any pressures. They should have check and reset all adaptive memory when the codes were check and cleared.

There are more than one form of limp home with that trans. The fact that you are shifting at full pressure would seem to tell me the adaptation values are messed up and the system is subing the full pressure as a default.

It would be nice to see the adaptation values and a reset would be a good next step.

There is only one dealer here, so no choice.

They did not want to reset the adaptives at first visit, I guess they wanted me to come back and spend more money.

I will go back to get the adaptives read and also reset.

How much time should I pay for at the dealer?

Should I ask them to do anything alse while I am there?

What kind of information would you like me to bring from the dealer?

Thank you again for your help.

Update

I drove on a highway and now I feel the 5-th gear, from 2-nd to 5-th gear shifts really smooth.

My only problem now is hard shifting from 1-st to 2-nd gear and when comming to a complete stop there is a bang as the transmission releases.

I am still going to the dealer to get the adaptations read, should I get them to read and erase adaptations only or should I ask for something more?

Thank you again
