The O2 sensor (you may have two) is located before and after the cat on your exhaust system. They break more often then older cars, I replaced mine bout 65K. When the O2 sensor fail, your “Check Engine” will stay on. If you are MBCA member, you can write to George Murphy, he have a modification with to use of the Ford Mustang O2 sensor.
