I am trying to remove the rear door panels on my 1987 560SEL. Can anyone help? I started by removing the window/seat heater/seat recline switch, as well as the trim that goes up from the top rear of the panel to the top of the door. I removed the screw at the bottom of the panel and the two screws on the door handle. Now I'm stuck. I figure out how to fully remove the handle, what else do I need to do?
ThankS!

You don't fully remove the handle, once all screws and switches are out, you hold the panal slightly away from the handle and slide up, however it is usally tight and sticks at the top.

thanks, just to clarify, should I be able to remove the metal hinged door "opener"?, I guess that the leather handle stays attached by the top portion between the switches and the door "opener", but I can't get the opener/trim area off. Does that stay on the main panel as well, or should that be able to be removed?
Thanks again

If I understand your question, you're asking about the thin plastic part that covers the plastic piece behind the chrome door opener. This can be pried off (careful, it breaks if you force it) to get access to the plastic piece behind. I forget if you have to take this off. Also, don't forget the door latch has a piece that has to come off. If you do get everything freed up, then lift up, don't pull it straight out, or else you'll break off the mounting plastic ears on the back of the door "skin".
