I have a 1984 Euro 300D with a 5-speed manual transmission. I recently had a problem with my central locking system failing. I bought a vacuum tester and tracked the problem down to a rubber y-connector in the pillar by the front passenger door. This is a Y with two different diameter tubing connections. One line is incoming. The other goes out to the door lock and the smaller diameter line goes to adjust the mirror in the door. I can not find this part at IMPCO or any MBUSA retailer.

Can anyone out there suggest a source for this part that never seems to have been standard on US models??

Thanks

Wow, MY KIND OF CAR!

I would love to have a manual transmission five cylinder 123 car, especially a five speed, protect it and cherish it.

I'm surprised that you can't get a Y from Performance, I would suggesting posting this question to the Parts Shop here. I expect that they will find one for you.

Wow, a five speed, turbo, 300D, I've even considered trying to build such a car.

Good luck,

Larry,

Thanks for the advice!

I hate to burst your dream, but it my 300 is non-turbo. I scoured the countryside of Germany in 1985 looking for one and finally was told that they did not exist. A Mercedes shop explained to me that the drive shaft that coupled to the manual transmission could not handle the torque. Subsequently, the only way one could get the 5-speed manual with turbo was to buy the wagon. I preferred the sedan, so I bought a 1 year old (to avoid paying German and American tax) basic 300D with manual windows, electric sunroof, and only a few other options. I had it converted to American Standards at a place called Champagne Motors in PA. I have the original clutch, exhaust, transmission, and injector pumps. I am very pleased with the car, except that I am starting to get a little rust. I had to add fender covers to hide it.

Also, having read some other posts, I have never added oil to my fuel and have never had any problems with the injection pump.

Thanks again,

Thanks for responding to my response.

The injection pump problems with non hardened barrells will take time to show up.

It is not difficult to find 123 cars without rust in Texas. If the rust ever gets overwhelming, I would be interested in buying the car, and use the drivetrain to build a non rusted, five cylinder, five speed car out of. The non Turbo is fine. There are pluses AND minuses to the turbo.

Thanks again,
