Mercedes in Dallas

I have tried Ewing ******** in Plano and have been very satisfied with their work.I have also tried 911 Enterprises and Autoscope and have been very impressed with their courtesy, shop cleanliness, and attention to detail.I have also heard good things about Louden ********,Lazlo's,and Dallas Autosports.I met the owner of Dallas Autosports at Stuart's Bodyshop one day and he was very knowledgable about european racing automobiles such as Ferrari and Lomborghini. He actually services his car himself in his shop. They are located on Garland Road in Dallas.I hope this helps.

I'll offer a different opinion of Ewing in Plano. I think their mechanics are probably as good as any, but I have been treated like a total idiot by the service writers and shop management. The degree of lack of professionalism was quite suprising to me. I had one service writer that was within earshot of conversations I was having pull me aside later and basically apologize for the "lack of professionalism". I won't be back.

My father used to work as a mechanic at ewing ********. Once they moved to plano and with the change of ownership, the lack of professionalism dropped dramatically. They are more about output then quality. Granted they get the work done, but money is more important then making people happy in the closing stages.

Details

Fred, I'm not sure if we're talking about the same person. I'm talking about Lazlo's in Richardson TX. It's run by this older Hungararian guy. I think the details are covered it in another post. Long and short, i asked him to check my 73 out and we agreed he would work on it for 3 hours and then call me with a diagnosis.

In the end, he charged me for about 10 hours for diagnosis (never called) and the car ran worse then it did when i took it to him. No parts added no diagnosis given, just an invoice detailing things that he adjusted, mainly on timing gear when he already told me up front that the timing chain was so stretched that it's vital to replace it (for $2500).

Why would you spend 10 hours adjusting the timing gear on a chain that you know is stretched and needs replacing?

I took it over to David at European Performance the following week and he had it running better within 10 minutes just by adjusting the map sensor. He also did the timing chain and tensioner for about $600.

People like Lazlo's are vultures. I wouldn't say anything normally about a mechanic but I would hate to have another member scammed by him.

698.- saved

Hi all,

I'd like to share my bad experience with a Dallas MB dealership (Park Place Motorcars , 6113 Lemmon Avenue, Dallas, TX 75209) and great experience with this forum.

My car (W124 300CE, 1989) has been recalled for changing the throttle cable, without charge of course. After the job the MB service man told me that the EHA had been leaking and they needed another hour to change it; the cost would be 517.28 for part and 698.- including labor and tax. Since I was not prepared for another hour of service I said I had to go to the office because of a meeting and I would bring the car back another time; The service man then told me that because everything was opened now they could do it in 30 minutes; Still I did not have the 30 minute time; again they said that the job can be done in 15 min since they had not re-assembled the parts which normally make the EHA inaccessible. At that point I wondered why would they charge over $120 in labor for a 15-minute job, so I insisted on coming back other time.

At home I reseached first on line and found several offers for the EHA, new, between 179.- - 219.- . Then I came across a thread on this forum about adjusting the EHA and somebody mentioned that after removing the air cleaner box, the EHA can be removed by loosening 2 (two) screws; in another follow-up some MB "Samaritan" said that the seal tends to be leaking. I decided to give it a try, ordered the seal (1.20 each) and voila` my EHA is not leaking any more.

What I resented the MB dealership that they have not even tried to look at the seal. I know that MB service is not there to save us money but charging 517.- for some part which others sell for 179.- is outrageous enough, not to mention the fact that the part itself needs not be changed at all, but only the seal, and then charging 140.- for a maximum 5-min work (even if the air cleaner had not been already out, they would have done it in 10 min; because it took me 20 minutes with no experience and no good tools) would be first-class rip-off.

Thumbs up The Best Personal Mb Service In Dallas!!!!!

Auto Hans in addison is by far my #1 pick. 2 german brothers own it Alex and Hans Preen... not sure if I spelled that correct... best prices no overbilling and honest guys you can trust. I have had my 2002 Cl600 fixed there many times. Alex is a great mechanic who is friendly. Little stuff like ashtray clips or mirror clips happen to broken at the same time as the car was in the shop for other work and I was not charged for them... once it was the hood spring... this next time it will be the centerconsole spring and he said he would just do it when he fixed the automatic door latch.... yes the Cl is an over engineered car plagued with little stuff... Anyway trust me on this one these guys are excellent I am impressed and you will be also...I have yet to see if he can lower my car through the Star diognostics system... does anyone know who has experience with this???

The MB Zone Operations rep. for Ewing ******** MB in Plano, Texas, is a liar.....pure scum. The zone rep. lied to MBUSA about my car's fuel leaking defect.

I could go on about the incompetent service manager, but that tells of my experience there.
