Installation of Rear Passenger Mirror w116

I recently bought a passenger side mirror for my 1977 280SE. I need help with installation. I tried to remove that single screw that's securing the triangular shape chrome but I'm not successful with it. I almost wanted to pry it off but I figured, I'll ask you guys first for some assistance. Is it true that if I have a left hand driver car and the right hand passenger side mirror came from a right hand driver car (which is the case with me. This guy from Great Britain sold me his mirror thru e-bay), that I won't be able to adjust the right side correctly?

Also, different topic but the same car, how do you remove the rear view mirror from the interior of the car?

Hey,

That trim you were trying to remove, unscrew and remove the screw, then the handle of the mirror, the behind part slides out and the black part comes off. Then pry out the triangle. It has the window molding around it, over the years these slowly morph together and it requires a little forcing to get out. Then theres 3 screws inside that secure the mirror to the car.

The inside mirror on a w116 is held in place by a spring mechanism. Hold on to the stem of the mirror, not the mirror part and pull at a 45 degree angle towards either side and apply quite a lot of pressure. This should remove it quite easily. Putting it back into place is whole other story. That requires a lot more effort than to simply pull downwards.

Hope this helps,
Peter
