Question Bent valve: How to check for it?

Recently, the timing chain jumped 3 teeth on my M130.92 (6 cyl.) engine.

I put in a new timing chain today, and the engine turns freely with a socket on the crank. #1 TDC matches the camshaft mark. All valve springs are compressing as normal.

Seems that I should do a compression check for each cylinder next. Of course, that means using the starter.

Is there any other method to check for a bent valve that I should do first?

If you haven't already disturbed the valve clearances, see

if one of them has way too much clearance, indicating that the bent head is preventing it from closing fully.

PS: This assumes that the clearances have been properly maintained before the timing chain problem.

azzuming that you suspect a bent valve due to contact with a piston---check for excessive clearance on all by turning over by hand--- any valves hung open should be obvious. If none appear open and you still suspect any are off slightly do a compression check to confirm-- you have the timing set per spec, the damage is done don't worry about using the starter.
good luck, James
