115 speaker removal?

Hello all, I have a 76 300d, green with grey interior... I love this car, extreamly nice ride and exelent quality. I just have a few minor issues with it.
The speaker (frount, middle of dash) is most likely the stock speaker from almost 30 years ago, and gets distorted easly, and has overall low sound quality. It looks as though to replace it, I need to remove the dash, and dash removal is NOT covered in my manual... Is there anybody out there whos willing to walk me through removing the dash, or is their an easier way to replace the speaker?
Thanks for your help
~Nate

My W115 is somewhat older and is a 220D/8, but there are four phillips head screws holding down the ridged plastic cover. Then there was originally a bit of cloth that coverd the speaker. Yours being a 300D and newer might be different?!

Yes the speaker is covered with cloth, Is there a way to remove the cloth to replace the speaker without removing the dashboard? I didnt see any other way to get at it, but I can look again

Thanks
~Nate

On mine the cloth was disposable. Of course this happened many years ago, and the car was then not considered the Classic that it might be today. Anyway it was ripped out and never replaced. The speakers were a somewhat difficult size to find a replacement for back then, but times may have changed. Good luck.

Its just a metal mesh/horsehair pad covered with cloth cliped over it...
pulled up on the "cloth" and felt something give (o #$%& moment), and then realize its a clip... 3 more and its off... its a 4x10? speaker, so great i get to look for one...

Thanks though, I appreciate it alot
