You can get the paint code off of the tag on the crossmember infront of the radiator. Take a pic and post it.

Nice ride ! (those coupes sure are purdy)

A beautiful example of one you have, drive it with pride.

I saw one in Arequipa, in Southern Peru, once. Not as beautiful as yours of course

Thanks for all the kind words, I'll take all kinds of pictures when I next visit the car. It's currently at my dad's for storage while I finish my garage-build project ongoing.

I know a lot about Porsche 914s, but it took years, now I have plenty to learn on this Benz. It'll be fun for sure.

I hear you about the lower seats in the coupe, my fiancee is 5'0" and has to use a pillow to see over the wheel, haha. Lucky for me, I'm 6' so there's no issue for me.

I think getting some new front floormats, some new weatherstriping, treat the trunk for some surface rust and tune the motor are about all this car needs!

The drivers seat is height adjustable. Are you sure it's adjusted as high as it can be when you fiance is in it?

nice looking car

That is a fine looking machine. I hope you can enjoy many years of tooling around in it.

It's not adjustable in the W114's, at least not in the coupes. The seats sit lower than in the sedans as the roof is lower.

I don't know if there was a 280C in '72. The US 250C used a 2.8L SHOC engine and the 280C used a 2.8L DOHC, otherwise, they were the same car with minor variations from year to year. The E suffix, if it has one, implies fuel injection.

I bought my '76 280C for $1200 and sold it to a needy person for $500. It was very rusty and he needed a car now.

My '71 250C cost me $1500. I have listed it on the Seattle craigs list 3 times now for $1800 without a single response. It needs paint.

Thanks, your 74 looks great. I haven't had time to dig into the full history of my car or work on it much. I'm building a garage currently so that's taking up all my time. The recent flooding in the DC area didn't help much either.
I'll post more info as I find it!

Last week my 1970 250c started heating up on the way home. It was only 103 outside at the time but I wound up having to pull over under an overpass and let it cool down before making it home. I spoke with my brother in law the mercedes tech who suggested a new thermostat, radiator cap, and fan switch which I installed on Tuesday. He also suggested I put in a bottle of WATERWETTER that I was able to buy at auto zone. Everything is staying cool. He has been using the WATERWETTER in his 500e for quite some time and also suggests that anyone with an older Mercedes use it. It lowers the normal operating temp about 10 to 15 degrees.
