Nice 6.9 for sale
Reggie jacksons car
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Benz-REGGIE-JACKSONS-6-9-450SEL-6-9-REGGIE-JACKSONS-1978-MERCEDES-BENZ-450SEL-6-9-SUPERB_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6315QQihZ019QQitemZ290196410099QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Interesting its being peddled by the prez of the M100 club, but he doesn't try to sell to the club. And there is a good reason for that. says everything is original but glovebox wood looks different than the rest. Car might be as good as it says.... but beware.

Lets say if a person was selling cars that turned out to be not exactly as described, the last thing you want is an informed buyer.

I'm not sure that's really worth worrying about. It's possible that he's "hiding" something and doesn't want his connections to the M100 Group known, but it's also possible he's not drawing the link because of other personal reasons. He does, however, say that:
If you are not fully familiar with this model, I recommend you take a look at the material found on the website of the International M-100 Group for detailed analysis www.m-100.cc If you know the Group, then you'd know it was his car anyway. I don't see it as a large black mark, but it is a curiosity.

Cars looks good, could be as advertised. I have never done business with this guy so I have no first hand info, but I would NOT trust him. Definitely check out the car (as with any car) before you buy. Plus one that is obviously not owned by the guy doing the selling. Its just common sense.
Disclaimer: never did business with the guy but we have clashed with regards to the M100 group a few years back. Neither one of us sends the other Christmas cards if you know what I mean. He was busted for lying on the M100 BBS and for me, that lack of honesty would prevent me from ever trusting him. Quote:

This seller was also involved with the sale of the low mileage 6.3 a while back. I can't remember the details but it was discussed at length here. I think the asking price was 75k or 125k, something absurd. If I recall there were a lot of red flags on that deal as well, dunno if it ever sold or not.

Its all about the car. With some (all?) you have a need to do your own homework rather than blindly follow any seller's information. I view any description as a starting point only.
I don't understand the percevied value adder of a "celebrity" former owner. The fact (maybe) that someones famous butt previously parked itself in my car's seat doesn't mean much to me. Tell me who worked on it for the last 25 years instead. My 6.9 (almost perfect condition, but unfortunately also for sale, see M-100.org classifieds) was originally owned by a "Great Artists Group" in NYC so it seems I can conjure up a celebrity connection if needed All that being said, this one appears to be in damn fine condition, hope if finds a good home.

Normally, a celebrity owner doesn't do diddly for the value. The only reason why it might in this case is because Reggie is a very well known car collector who has a history of taking care of his cars. He buys good stuff and treats them well.
I'll fully agree to the other point - doesn't matter who the seller is, do your homework.

The m-100 club President? That would be Stu. Knowing Stu as I do (and I notice that at least two guys on this thread other than me are current or at least recent m100 club members), I can say that Stu knows his stuff and that is as it should be. No, I have not purchased a car from Stu, but I have had the pleasure of sitting in his parlor and drinking a good beer at least twice. I've also been a passenger in some of his rather interesting cars. It is not Stu's habit to "sell" to us, because we don't need to be sold. That and we can troll ebay as well as anybody.
If you're going to buy a car, any car, from anybody, it is of course, "buyer beware". Nobody would buy this car because it is a 6.9. They would buy this car because it was Reggie's 6.9. If you've trolled ebay as long as I have, you would know that this car has been for sale before and yes, it really was Reggie's car. You would also know that Stu is involved in selling exotic mercedes of all shapes, sizes and colors. Sometimes they are his own personal cars and other times they are on consignment. Anybody want a 6.9 with only 219 miles? (no, not Reggie's). If you are interested in Reggie's car, then feel free to drop Stu a line. If you want to rubber-neck about the car (as I've been doing for the past week or so), then wander over to www.m-100.cc and see what the club members have to say about it. Yes, we discuss Stu's cars all the time. We also discuss everybody else's. There are times we tear apart a car because of flaws in the story. At other times, we praise them greatly because they are machines worthy of such. -CTH PS. That super-low milage 6.3 was indeed sold and in fact is for sale again at twice the numbers you stated. That car is a drivable museum piece. Personally, low milage low cars are as interesting to me as celebrity ownership (which is to say "not at all"), but these things when tied to cars in very good condition make one heck of a market.
