It's a high quality laminate. With the dogs, it did not make sense to get real or engineered. As I put the sub floor in, it would be very easy to switch over to nail down hard wood if I decide to do so in the future (although I very much doubt that I will).

I'm taking a long weekend off this weekend so that I can finish the floors off. I've also sold the Jag on eBay to an Austrian buyer and i'm hoping that a truck can come and pick it up in the next couple of days. I need to ship and hood and a set of Euro lights that I sold on ebay and I am going to look at another car.

What's the car you're going to look at? I promise, I'm not looking for another one right now!

Regards,

David

i've just been given a finny and it will be here sometime next week. I need it like a hole in the head so it will be put up for sale as soon as I figure if it's worth mucking around with. I haven't actually seen it yet.....

Going to be rebuilding a front sub frame from my '73 280 (going to the eternal parking lot, sigh) and slipping it under the wife's '72 250C. It's already out from under the car and sitting on a stand.

Shouldn't be too bad. Just replacing the lower control arm bushings and doing clean-up on it. The ball joints and upper bushings are good and the lower bushings are just worn. Her sub frame seems to have met the odd parking block or two and looks pretty tweaked. The 280 has the larger disc brake piston calipers which will transfer over and maybe give her a bit more "whoa".

Anybody need some rust free W114 parts while I'm at it?

Front or rear? The rears won't work on your 280CE. The fronts are rust free but the left has a few dings in it. If you want them you can have them for the cost of shipping.

First job of the weekend was to replace the auxiliary water pump in my 6.9. I'm hoping it will help cure the circulation issue in the cooling system.

The 116's going to get the rest of the car polished and waxed. I also need to throw new brake pads on the front and possibly replace my front and rear bumpers from a junkyard 116 in the area.

I just hope tomorrow's nicer than it was today.

Regards,

David

i got the mysterious Finny deliverd early this week. it's basically rust free, has a rebuilt engine which runs beautifully but needs a few things like screen seals, a better fuel pump, a fuel guage sender and a brake job . Pics later.
Getting it from the truck depot to here was a drama. it's only 5kms but it took 3 hours becaue the guys at the other end were supposed to fit a new fuel pump but instead shoved an old pump into place and jammed it in with a rag. Of course it stopped working 100 mtrs into my trip home in the middle of early morning rush traffic . I figured the pump wasnt working and the fact the gen light was dull pointed out a power fault .I reached up and grabbed the back of the switch which was damn hot (loose connections) then the back fell off. So I had to make a hot wire to power the ignition and get the pump running and then i could short the starter terminal. Luckily it started once the fuel was pumped through and then i began a series of stops and starts through the traffic. I found a new unused switch in the pile of bits I have so that's one part sorted.
I 'd love tyo keep this car because it's a nice colour and runs well but i dont have the space for it.
The main job for the weekend has been finishing the W111 5.0 liter conversion which is going to the muffler shop on Monday for a complete dual 3" exhaust in stainless steel.

Sick this weekend, but my XJ's fuel pump won't kick in on cold startups, so I might brave the elements to figure it out.

This is the finny I was given this week . It's been in storage for years and not driven since 2005 . it was one of the last 6 imported as a CKD kit and assembled in Australia in 1964. As I understand it ,I'm the third owner .
