euro expertise needed

Does anyone know if the engine numbers on the euro models are stamped in the same place the american models are? I have a euro 450 SE. I have a owner's manual for an american model. I have looked for 3 days for the engine number and CANNOT find it! It says it should be on the driver's side of the block at the rear. I'm telling you, it's not there!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!

It's on the top of the block behind the cylinder head on the drivers side. Look behind the drivers side valve cover, down towards the bell housing. You'll see the flat spot, probably covered in dirt, you'll need to use an old rag to wipe all the greasy gunk off to read it.

It is conveniently located below the oil pressure sending unit at the back of the driver side cyl. head.

mirror

I am having the same problem finding the number on my 82 280 euro. Do you have to use a mirror to see it? Also, where would I find the chassis number?

W123? The chassis number would be stamped on the firewall. Right under the rubber cowl-to-hood weatherstrip, right smack in the middle.

The engine number should be on the driver side (LHD), towards the rear of the block, below the head. (Think of it as top right corner of the engine block, if you're standing over the driver-side fender).

good luck and have fun,
