More on 280C Carb & Cold Idle Problem
After reading the manual on the 4A1 several times, I am thinking that I am running lean when cold because (a) the choke gap is off, or (b) the cold start enricher is not supplying fuel (clogged?).
I thought that I would start with the choke gap, because if the choke gap is not wide enough, there would not be enough vacuum to pull fuel from the enricher. The manual shows a rather tortuous procedure for adjusting the gap, involving removing the bi-metallic spring's cover, running the enigne, and pinching off a vacuum line, all to get the choke to its position when cold. Can't I simply meaure and adjust the gap with a cold engine? Other ideas? TIA Chuck |
