On the output shaft of 722.1 => 722.4 transmissions the yoke is held in place with a nut on the output shaft.

You will have to remove the output shaft nut in order to remove the casing. However, if you fit a new casing and gasket then you are might change the gear set (internal) clearance...

Which transmission are you talking about? You'll find a series of numbers stamped into the casing on the right hand side of the transmission just above the oil pan.
