82 300SD Seats stuck

My problem is with a 82 300SD, the driver side seat will not move forward or backwards, the motor runs but the seat doesn't move. Same applies to the front and back lift motors on the driver and passenger seats. Additionally, the recline feature of both seats don't work, the motor runs on the driver seat, doesn't run on the passenger seat. Assuming its the switch box on the door (which has broken pegs also), I purchased 2 good ones from the pick-n-pull. Problem is, my cars switch seems to be soldered into place whereas the ones i got (from a 84 300SD) has plugs.

Can the switch be rewired to work with my car?
and
Is the seat rails stripped? If so, can they be replace or will the whole lower section of the seat be replaced?

Thanks in advanced.
PS: I tried the search without any luck so far.

"the motor runs but the seat doesn't move"

I had the same thing happen to me. The problem was the speedo cable that connects the motor to the gears that move the chair wasn't seated right. In fact one of the ends was kind of bent out of round. I flip-flopped the cable and it worked again. You might want to try this too. If not you might need a new cable. I doubt the gears are stripped.

You will need to completely remove the chair to do this by the way. I found a bunch of stuff under the seat too.

I was wondering if this is the cable, seems kind of out of place in the passenger footwell instead of the driver side.

Speaking of finding stuff, I found a mity vac! It was tucked neatly behind the carpet on the trans tunnel.

Mine didn't look quite like that and they were fastened on pretty good--I dont think they would come loose like that. Grab the metal peace that is sticking out and if you can rotate it and pull it in and out then it is a speedo cable.

also, when you put it back on the gear end, you can spin it with plyers and watch the gears move slowely. That way you know it is seated properly

Jason, the item you have pictured is the coax cable for the factory installed CB antenna cable. The MB cars from the 80s came prewired for CB radios when they were popular. The drive cables for the seat are located under the seat and it is necessary to remove the seat to access the cables.
