what is the difference between calipers?
I am stealing parts off my 300SD for the 300TD rehabilitation. How are the rear calipers different between cars? they appear to be identical, or is it that my TD came to me with the wrong calipers on it? (after all they were on the wrong side, with the bleeder screws on the bottom, hose's on the top)
Thanks, Jason

There are three different types of calipers, they are made by ATE, Girling and Bendix. They ATE and Girlings ones are almost identical except the that the Girlings use and circular ring to hold the piston boot on. The Bendix calipers use heat shields on the the pistons between the brake pads. The reason your calipers had the bleeder screws on the bottom was that someone put the calipers on the wrong sides.
I have a feeling the calpers will work on either car.
