Accelerator Pedal on top of the accelerator pedal

Insanity has set in...

I was having difficulty getting the go pedal to the floor this morning. It felt like there was something underneath it. I got to my destination, gave it a look, and discovered that there was a rubber pedal block, or pad, made to fit over the real pedal. I removed it and set it aside.

Is this supposed to be here, or was the PO vertically challenged, or what?

Did it want to stick at about 1/4 throttle? I've occasionally had that problem and it gos away before I can diagonse it. Looking forward to what others say about it.

It's a tracking device

The Mormons put them there to see if you have been going to the bars up in Park City

Actually, it was a little more than halfway, and it didn't go away until I retreived the slip-on pedal cover from under the accelerator pedal.

I don't even know what to call this thing. Some ideas have been pedal block; pedal lift; accelerator condom It is hard to believe that MB engineers designed this thing, it came off and interfered with vehicle operation far too easily...

I beleive it is there for comfort and also for reducing the vibration that comes down the line from the engine linkage.
Mine has a "fat" pedal as well and its nice and soft on the feet, espically if you have to push on it decently.

Lube up your linkage on top of the valve cover where the linkage rolls around a moon shaped cutout in some metal...that should help.

Thumbs up

Hehehe, I had the grommet behind there come off and lodge the pedal at an angle so you could barely accelerate the vehicle!

Needless to say, I snagged a working pedal from the boneyard here I found as quick as I could.

The bottom mount thingy where it clips into the rectangular hole on mine likes to pop out often.

A couple zip-ties and I am good to go!
The floor mat hides it all
