You knew one would show up eventually...

Too bad it is that MB YELLOW!

Seriously, what a find...like being sprung from a time capsule. He's asking a lot for it, but where would you find another? Anyone want to start a W123 museum?

pretty

convincing photos but not enough to get me to drop 20 grand wo a close look and a drive. even if it all checks out i am not sure if it is worth that much.... very nice look ing car though... i think the maple yellow is a very nice elegant color... although if you look in my closet you will find about seven shirts that color... the ladies at the dry cleaner call me the yellow shirt guy.

I would be very worried about the seals hardening after sitting for 24 years. That engine may leak a whole lot of oil after no time.

He screwed up, big time.

I'll bet you can buy it at the opening price of $14,400.

Very few people will open the bidding at this number. He should have started at $1.00 and put a reserve on it.

For $14,400., it's probably worth it if you intend to keep it as a museum piece.

We've seen some 300D machines go for this price with 50K on the clock.

Man is that ride clean. It looks to be in really god condition although like stated i might be worried about the seals and whatnot see its it still keep water and such out. as well as engine seals. But that interior man o man i wish my interior was still that clean. engine compartment looks pretty clean as well. Kind of like my brothers 300d euro spec with a 4 speed. that man will take a good 5 hours washing cleaning waxing his car. Back to the issue at hand i think he is asking toom uch for it though, and i would have to ask why he garaged it for soo long (hmmm). no dobuts it would be a nice start out car for a new driver but too little car for me i need my extra cylender (i am a big dude and usually lead foot...i need the power)

His opening bid won't take it as it has a reserve on it at that...so he's probably holding out for something like $20K CAN.

That car would require a personal inspection along with a mechanics PPI...before it would be worth anything like that...true its possible its as advertised but at those prices only a fool would assume it was.

Insane car, putting miles on it would only decrease its value.

Not sure you could import that into the US without a big hassle. If I win the lottery, I would buy that in a heartbeat.

All right. What is a brand new Mercedes worth? If you really want a brand new 1981 240D how many chances do you think you are going to get to buy one?

If you bought a really nice one for say, $4000 how much would it cost to have it restored to perfect condition? And it still wouldn't be brand new.

It's a lot of money but I don't think it's too much for a car like that. If you want a car like that, which I don't.

If he doesn't get his price, he can put it back in the garage for another 24 years.

Did you guys see the low mileage, 1953 Buick Roadmaster sedan that used to belong to Howard Hughes? What would you say that car is worth? There is at least one person in the world who thinks it's worth $1.64 million and another who bid $1.63 million.

A friend of mine owns a 1914 Harley Davidson. The original owner rode it for one summer, went to France in the Army during WW1 and never came back. It is original, untouched, and still has the original paint, original tires and everything just as it was made. It had under 2000 miles on it when he got it.

In 1982 a Harley dealer offered him a brand new ElectraGlide with factory sidecar, worth at that time $14,000. My friend turned him down flat. The dealer called him a fool. My friend said "maybe you are right, but if I change my mind and want an Electraglide I can buy one anytime. Where are you going to get another bike like mine?"

Question for the experts among you....
Did Mercedes paint these cars with the front fenders on the car, or off? The reason I ask is that if they were originally painted with the fenders off the car, and then bolted on later in the assembly process, one would expect the cap screws holding the fender on to be unpainted. In the photo of the engine compartment, they are clearly painted. Is that evidence of anything, or not?
