Sunroof Won't Open

Ok, I searched and searched but never found anything to match this.

I cannot open my sunroof on my 84 300SD. It appears that I have no power at all when pressing the "Open".

If I crank it open manually, I can close it without a problem.

Any ideas why I can't get any juice on open???

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I'll check it out, but I got a feeling there's a difference between the 95 and 84.

Appreciate it!

My '77 240D was doing almost the same thing -

(I could hear the motor under power[when pushing close] even when closed, but it would not open[when calling for open])I took the switch apart, cleaned it up and all is hunky-dory at this writing....

Just climbed out from under her changing my trans cooler line...not a bad job, 30 minutes for an ameteur.....hardest part was trying to keep everything clean.

I'll have to take the switch out and check it. I know that it dims the lights on close, but not sure that it does anything the other way.

I've got about 5 layers of grease and oil on me right now (wait till SWMBO sees the keys ! ! ! ) so I think I'll go and shower up before testing again,.....

Thanks again for all the help....I knew I'd get lot's of ideas here.

do you know whether the fault is in the switch, wiring, relay or motor? A KISS test is this: With door open, press sunroof switch to open while looking at dome light. If it dims slightly while you press the switch, the circuit is seeing a significant load and it's almost certainly the motor.
