98 E300 throws Wastegate Solenoid code during italian tune up
I was doing my best to blow a little soot of my 1998 E300 yesterday and about a minute after I slowed down, the check engine light came on and the car now feels like it has lost a lot of power. The CEL generated 2 codes. P0243 (Turbo/supercharger Wastegate solenoid "A") and P0100 (MAF).
The freezeframe on my code reader indicates 108 mph at time. I was driving uphill in 4th gear with the RPM about 500 shy of redline if I remember correctly. My thinking is I blew out just a little too much soot and should drive it for a week or two and see if it resolves itself. Any feedback and advice is much appreciated. The only Diesel experience I have is 20 years ago with a Fairbanks Morse (emergency power) on a U.S submarine and we had lots of manuals, which sadly I dont have for the 210 Benz. Thanks and HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS, Paul 1998 E300 |

I got the same code a week or so back on my '98:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=140060&highlight=p0243 It has not come back since I reset it and the car's been fine so I haven't looked for the problem but if you are still having a loss of power it could be the wastegate is stuck open and dumping all the turbo boost.
