Talking Money pit thread, read at your own risk!

Okay lets scare some new guys, these threads are always fun. Here are the rules, lets see who has spent the most on one of these cars. Has to be a single car, fleet care costs don't count.

Let me fire the first shot, 300SDL bought for a grand total of $2,900 three years ago.

About $11,349.47 in parts plus the purchase price is $14,249.47. Roughly, its probably more. Lets see I want to paint her this year and rebuild the trans. Cruise control is needing an amp, and a few more things require attention, still needs about $1k in repairs. Interior could use a bunch of new stuff. I can see doubling what I have into her before she is perfect.

Lets break the costs down by mile, 24924/$11349.47=.46 cents per mile. (beat that! )
$11349.47/36=$315.26 per month. Not quite enough to lease a 325I.

I know there is one person on this forum who has me beat with his super cherry 300D, anyone else?

1985 300D-T bought it for $2500 with 258,182 miles

now it has 268,009 miles and I have spent about $1500 in parts and associated tools in the last year for the car. The parts were all replacements of things that tend to need replacing and or wore worn out

I never keep track of my auto-related expenses well enough to document something like this, but I know I usually spend buckets of money.

Take for example the 80 300TD I just sold. Bought it for $2,200. Spent approximately $1,200 in miscellaneous repairs and sold it for $1,800. I only had that car 3 months. Yikes, I'm glad my wife doesn't read these forums.

I'm just getting started. I just "acquired" a 300TD-T and a 300D on top of my 190D. I read somewhere that the most expensive Mercedes is a free one.

I have never heard of a W126 costing so much. If yours was a W140 I would not be surprised.

Yes we have been down this road before, but there are more new guys for me to scare!

Actualy I am waiting for pawoSD, and another member who's handle is escaping me at the moment. He has a super sweet 300D in CA with a mint BMW 6 series as well.

PawoSD might be ahead of me, we need to know!

I don't know about the free part, I paid $2800 for mine (I paid TOOOOO much knowing what I now know....... But still worth it....) and I've put thousands into it....... I don't bother keeping track...... It's just depressing......... Like $105 for 4 gals of oil two months ago, now only 2 quarts left due to my massive oil leak I was fighting.......... GRRRRR

Only major purchases do I bother to keep receipts for...... (Well, should clarify, I keep receipts for all purchases with my credit card statements... Only major ones get copied for the car folder....)

I'm afraid to add it all up, and I need to maintain plausible deniability with my wife.

Maybe in total cost, but not cost per mile. My expenses are spread out over over 200K miles.
