How many Hours for a W123 300D Automatic Trans rebuild? Mine works great now and shift smoothly and has just been flushed, but my previous one just literally died suddenly and inexplicably in the driveway! This the week after a dash fire, two weeks after a complete motor replacement, and new windshield. Geez what a summer that was, I had to replace the transmission and solder 100 splices to make a new harness.............50K and anew paint job and interior since I did that

Probably just a few hours for an experienced person. A lot more for me, I can assure you.

There are a number of special tools involved, some of which you may be able to fabricate. A lot of measurements to get right, with various thicknesses of replacement parts to compensate.

Transmissions are more difficult than engines. The tolerances are much tighter.

I would guess a solid weekend of bench time to rebuild one of these with your skill level, once you have the proper tools and parts in front of you.

I have one to rebuild fairly soon- my 300D is puking serious fluid out the front seal. I have a known good one that has 180k miles on it and 2 cores to pull some parts off of.

I have rebuilt a Ford C4 and the front part of my low mileage 722.120 on the 300SD. All I need now is the motivation (as in complete failure of the one in the car,)

1981 240d (engine donor 1983 240d) recently rebuilt engine hurray! - No more.. fought a tree and the tree won.
