compatible parts
Okay, folks, I had my first junkyard experience today. Can you say "little boy in the candy shop"? My wife called as I was leaving.......she said, that's a LONG trip to the hardware store. Well, I got sidetracked. Called 3 junkyards and 2 of them knew they had MBs....our kind, 82-87 diesels.
So? I found an 87 300D. Will the sun visors fit my 1985 300D? Is there a chart of what will fit what? I found an 89 560 (or 520)SEL that was missing driver's seat (of course); dash, all switches except the passenger side door. The rest of the interior seem intact. Favorite color --- BLACK. What fits what? That is MY question.

DAW_TWO. what`s wrong wit your 85 visors? If it is the vanity mirrors that are broken, the mirrors off a 126 will fit right in.
I have black visors, the drivers side lid was broken when we bought the car, and the pass was cracked. so Wed I found a 126 with dark blue visors. so I destroyed the visors, but I got the mirrors out and installed them yesterday into my black visors. really cant tell the they are different unless looking real close. but the 126 ones are an improvement over the 123, they have been upgraded. sun visor issues
Hi Charlie.
My 1985 300D has 2 issues --- the vanity mirror doors are broken; actually it's the frames around the mirrors that are broken and the door falls right out --- door still has the the little things that stick our on the sides that fit into the frames. My "new gal on the block" (Coda) has black visors --- the doors are different (of course); the vanity mirror doors have little hinges with a pin thru the visor mirror frame. I found an 87 300D with nice palamino sunvisors. I forgot to look at the 89 520SEL to see if it had visors and vanity mirrors. So, do w126 parts fit other w126? Do w124 parts fit other w123?

The mirrors on the 123 are crappy compared to the 126. It seems they made some improvements to the 126 mirrors. they beefed up the hinges, and the switch for the light. plus there are shields that cover the bulbs so you aren`t blinded by the glare. comlaint my wife has.
There is a DIY on the sun visors. think it is a Wiki. It shows the wires being attached with spade type connectors. my 123 was like that, but they were so corroded I had to snip them off. the 126 were soldered on. so I spliced and soldered the wires and used heat shrink tubing. I used hot glue to attach the new mirrors to the visors. came out great. got an atta boy from the wife. the 124 & 123 are two different models, so not much would be interchangeable. the 126 have the short body and long. SE/SEL SD/SDL. so most parts would be compatable, but lots of changes as the years went along. Charlie

inside rearview mirror ....WORKS!!
The inside rearview mirror from the 87 300D worked on my 86 300SDL. The stem on the 87 is shorter, but I didn't need the stem. I needed the actual mirror. Now, I can TRY to glue the original mirror from the 300SDL. JB Weld time.

the inside rearview mirror is on a ball and socket. I changed it yesterday from one at PNP. mine looked like the backside of the mirror was dirty. If you hit the stem of the mirror it will pop out of the bracket it sits in. I hit it with the heal of my hand.
the mirror will come out off the ball with a twist. getting it back in I layed the mirror face down and whacked the stem with a dead blow hammer and it popped in. the reason I had to go through this, the PNP one had the stem at a different angle and could`t adjust the mirror far enough up. charlie ☺
