I wouldn't think of driving without both mirrors. About the time I "exert energy" to turn my head to change lanes is when the driver in front of me abruptly puts on the brakes and usually to change to the same lane. Besides that there are so many people out there with the very poor , and annoying, driving habit of "camping out" in blind spots. Granted, they are smaller on the MB but it seems they always can find them.

I bet there is considerably more aerodynamic drag from the wheels than that mirror would ever produce.

I'd never drive without both mirrors as it is against the law. What could be done is use interior mounted convex mirrors. A good amount of the guys on ecomodder have those setups and have not had any issues.

Eva is only.. 23 this year. Guy in my neighborhood has a model T hot rod sans mirrors ( except a rear view on the dash)... It's like sitting on a milk crate with big wheels to the back of you and a loud engine in front...

It looks like a salt flat racer. :D You should have kept the lowering springs. ;)

dude.. I should paint it flat black and put flames... lol

I know.. I should have kept them, but I needed spare cash to go to my alumni association volunteer effort thing.

I do want to polish all 4 when I buy more of them. I need to get the wheels rebalanced and have stick on weights installed as well as find some extra center caps. Maybe find a set of spare springs, and chop some off.

pawoSD 05-26-2008 02:54 PM

I use that mirror all the time.....then again I have a 126....and they ALL came with both mirrors. :D

spamman450 05-26-2008 05:17 PM

I don't have a passenger side mirror on my 240D. I have never missed it, or felt like i needed it. the car has very little blind spots. If it was a 126 it would be a different matter....

sorry but...what is up with that back hub cap? UGLY.

i dont care how many pennies it saves me in gas mileage, i rather be driving a good lookin car
if thats your concern, why dont you just get a honda or something?

lutzTD 05-26-2008 09:27 PM

give me a MB over a tin can econo box any day. if he can get 35 mpg thats awesome. hes the only one that has to be happy with the looks

Mark DiSilvestro 05-26-2008 10:51 PM

Except for my Fintail, every car that I've acquired in the past 7 years either came with righthand mirrors, or I added them. My '60 Fintail 220S doesn't have one, only because I didn't find one to fit it. I added righthand mirrors (with good glass) to both my 240Ds, use them often and wouldn't think about doing without.

Happy Motoring, Mark

totally, although I have a friend with a geo metro xfi with a bad clutch I might be able to buy off him. Either I replace the clutch and just mod that or... make it into an electric car like I have been wanting to do.

have you seen the markup on honda's lately. If you were in the loop last year you would know these 80's diesels were in high demand. Now they are not and high mpg econoboxes are. We'll see who is laughing when my car is doing laps around yours.

plus, the correct term is... wheel cover.
