83 Temp Gauge Problem

I was examining my instrument cluster to figure out why only half of my instrument light were functioning. When I reassembled it my temp gauge would peak and stay there. (It would peak after it warmed up, or if I turned the lights on). I removed the dash board again and repaired a crack in the circuit board. After doing this, the temp gauges does work, EXCEPT when I use the "high beam" on the head lights. Can anyone tell me why this would only happen on the "high beam?"

Thanks, Brian
