So I happen to like GM diesels!
Glad to see we think alike. good to see another diesel truck fanatic on the forum! I do like the Duramax and my acquaintances have had great luck with them talk about a stellar inj. pump bosch CP-3. They used that on the 03-07 cummins engines. which is still the motor I prefer. But I have to say If I was in the market for a new diesel truck I would be torn between GM and Chystler LLC. Anything besidesa p'stroke haha.

anyways have a great week and God Bless!

To get back on topic, I have always found Buicks to be very nice cruising vessels. My Grandfather always owned them (from when he could first afford them after WWII to the 1980s) They are reliable and very comfortable. My in laws have a Park Avenue that they just love. It is an older one with the push button door handles which GM should never have stopped using.

Of course my '70 GS ROCKED and one of my friends had a GN that was an awesome car, much better than the Monte SS.

Take good care of your Buick as I think the division's days can be counted on one hand...

The '84 is in great shape! I always loved that B body style. I had a '77 Impala that was the same style. I never liked the bathtub that replaced it.

Oh sure they've converted the small block to run on diesel,
but actually designed a diesel, nope.
The 6.5 is an ungodly POS, only thing worse is a 6.2
My 6.2 is a great engine, in fact it is the second one that I've owned. I have the newer glowplug controller and it works perfectly. I spent last weekend in the mud with the truck and burnt only 1/8th tank. 400 miles approx round trip on one tank of fuel.

People at the mudhole were supprised that 1) my suburban was a diesel, and 2) that it wasent converted to gas.

Btw is pulled all kinds of stuff out of the mud to include a swamp buggy and a whole bunch of fords and dodges (and some chevys).

To each its own, other then lacking throttle responsiveness (what do you expect with a non turbo engine) there isnt anything wrong with the 6.2. (yes, I have heard about the spider cracking issue)

169k and still going strong.

I bought my first Benz from "David", and yes, he will
take care of your car...........kinda.

Dave's MO is to bring the car back up to 100%, then
park it in the back yard with a cover over it, rarely to
be seen again.

If you remember that famous "Texas 240TD" from a few yrs back,
he has that one sitting in the yard also.

My inlaws gave us their 89 Park Ave that had 150k on the clock and we drove that car till rust killed it.
The 3.8 v6 is a great motor averaging over 30 mpg on that big old cruiser.
It was the most comfortable and reliable we had owned up to then.
They later on gave us their 92 LeSabre and it was also a good machine.

Your 03 has 1012 TSB's Not what I'm looking for
hmmm, ya but its had 6yrs to accumulate that amount of TSB's. And alot of them are BS like a TSB warning about power-up devices and such. The only issue ive had with mine is the typical LB7 injector issues which i had know about prior. GM will take replace them under there bullitin. Mine, no because of it beeing heavly modified, i do my own work and I plan on replacing my LB7 equipment for LLY I bought my 03 with 163K miles and since owned by me, i run it hard and it shrugs it off like nothin! Since its a federal emissions LB7, factory non/EGR, no cat or DPF, basicaly emissions free

As far as mods for the curious:
Industrial Injection Dual Feed Line, BD/TiAL BOV, BD Fullbore,
Coolingmist Stage2 M/W, TTS fuel pick-up, S&B intake, 6" exh, In-cab boost control, boost @32psi,
50% ExtrudeHone inj. nozzles, Modded CP3 common-rail pump
Summit Billet LP, Intake Heater Delete EFILive V2
LOWERED!

Buick's are too costly to drive hundreds of thousands of miles per car over-the-road, as I do. So are; Cadillacs and Lincolns, as I found out early in my travelling sales repping career. I put a combined 700,000 miles on two Cadillacs and one Lincoln in the '70s and '80s. Besides costing a fortune in gasoline and repair costs, they start to look like ghetto-cruisers within 3 years.

The Mercedes-Benz diesel is the least expensive car over time that I have ever operated. Once burnt by the American brands, will cure you for life. I drank the MB diesel kool-aid, several hundred thousands of miles ago.

From the standpoint of an honest MB technician, Vegetable oil is a threat to your diesel engine's mechanical integrity.

do you have a v6? if so check into the intake manifold gasket failure issues with the 97-present gm vehicles.. though youve probably already researched this, seeing that you are part of the mercedes shop forum.. dexcool is a terrible thing..

A technical service bulletin is an advisory issued by the manufacturer for use by dealership service departments. TSBs frequently address a recurring problem(s) and include instructions for repair, a list of the parts needed, the warranty status and the labor charge.
To the best of my knowledge my 83 300SD has 2 (two) TSB's, not a thousand.
Glad you guys like your GM diesels, didn't mean to upset anyone, just don't expect them to be around for 25 years.
P.S. I wouldn't have new 6.0l ford diesel either. My boat already has an anchor.
