300SD Maybe new rotors, ...
Since my son has been driving my 81 300SD the last 2 yrs or so, I have neglected a few things that now can't wait any longer.
Any advise is appreciated; 1- I am sure we need new brake pads all around. I cannot at all remove the rear lug nuts; Tried PB blaster 3 times; bouncing on the steel lug wrench; and leveraging with a 4' breaker bar. Not even 1 lug budged. What is next move? 2- Once I get the wheels off I can see if the rotors need replacing. I am guessing they do. Is there any site or posts anyone can point me to for replacing rotors on this model? I've done pads many times but never rotors. I'd like to do these myself since last time I took my 300E into the indy he took me for close to 4bills for new pads & rotors all around. 3- Is there anything else I should look for for wear & tear in addition with wheels off? Thanks. ..

Once you get the wheels off, you'll find that the rear rotors are pretty painless. You have to remove the calipers and off it comes. The fronts will require you separating the hub from the rotor once it's out and repacking the bearings. If the bearings are discolored, then you might want to replace them. There are many threads regarding this process.
You'll want to make sure the calipers are in good working order too, and when you've got it all back together, it will be time for a brake fluid flush. hopefully, those lugs will come out without damaging the hubs You might want to make sure they're the right type of lugs too. It might be that a non-MB lug bolt was used and it is not seated properly in the socket. |

Rear discs are perhaps the easiest of the ones to replace--But when you do them, best get a set of hand-brake shoes and a fitting-kit too, as these are under the discs..... Just remove the brake-caliper and the small set-screws holding disc to hub, and the disc will come off exposing the hand-brake mech... Be sure to clean the mating face of the hub before fitting the new discs as any eccenticity will quickly wear the disc 'out-of-round' as it were and you'll have brakes that judder with wheel rotation.... For front discs, you'll need to drop out the wheel-bearing and pull the whole hub off--The bolts that hold the disc are on the inside....Not hard, just a little more work... Not sure what to suggest about your wheel-nuts--Maybe a trip to local tyre-place for them to use their air-tools on them....

Use an impact gun on the lugs.
I can't believe you haven't had them off before to even rotate and rebalance the tyres, let alone inspect the suspension.
