Anything added to diesel,like wvo,wmo,watf,atf,marvel oil,2 cycle oil,Baby oil,will make #2 feel slippery.At 35% wmo/watf my mileage was 37 mpg.Going to Texas 2400 mile round trip,marvel and 2 stroke oil kept mileage at 32 to 34 mpg.

I used 16 oz of TCW3 last fill up and got back from a trip last night. 36.5 mpg on a 360 mile trip. Since this is my first trip with the car I can't say if the TCW3 oil had anything to do with the mpg, which I am very happy with. When I filled up last night I used 12 oz of DieselKLeen and no TCW-3. After today's drive into work I think I can tell that the engine idles louder.

I think I will stop using the DK for now and just drop in 12 to 16 oz of TCW3 when I fill up. Maybe use the DK every so often to clean up the injectors. I'm not even sure if the DK is doing anything for my engine at all, to be truthful.

I picked up 1 gallon of SuperTech TCW3 at WM last night. It was $10.97.

Strange...

I am using the more viscous 32:1 premix at about (4) ounces per (16) gallons. I made a game out of this and asked my wife to add the oil to the fuel at random and then I would tell her when she did it. I guessed correctly 5 out of 5 times. Car seems to run as good at (4) ounces per (16) gallons as it does with (16) ounces to 16 gallons.

It's difficult to explain, but the car just seems to run smoother and quieter and has more power. I have nothing scientific to back this up, other than the seat-of-the-pants dyno.

Thought I would share...

SuperTech

I have run the two-stroke additive in all my Benz Diesels, and my Cummins N-14 engine. It does make things quieter. I basically is an upper cylinder lubricant, like Lucas, or USA Lube . . . but without the infector cleaner. It also ups the fuel mileage, as it reduces friction. But thank you for figuring out the mixing ratio. Makes it easier to figure out, and I guess I was wasting some in the process. And yes, I get the cheapest stuff they have at Walmart, by the gallon.

If raw fuel is touching the cylinder walls, you've got major injection or compression issues. There is nothing in 2-stroke oil that can possibly make a feelable difference.

Upper Cylinder Lubricants

BlueCrayFish

If that's true, Lucas and other products like it wouldn't be in business.

IMHO

Actually, they are required to send it in for testing, when they try to give you a $10K fine for using off-road diesel. The A-holes in California might also try to write you up for using a non-approved additive to the fuel. But Marvel Mystery Oil is the same color (Red) as ATF, and I keep an empty on my truck at all times, and then I can ask the DOT officer when CA out-trumped the Federal Gov't in approving additives, as the back of the can clearly states that it is approved as an additive for all fuels, and what the authority is.

ON my truck, I went crazy trying every additive made that was supposed to increase fuel mileage. I kept extremely careful records during that year of experimenting. There were only two product types that consistently worked. The first is "Upper Cylinder Lubricant," such as Lucas, or USA LUBE. The other is 2-stroke oil additive. And the two stroke motor oil from WM, required only half amount as the Lucas did. Any of the old time owner operators will tell you that Upper cylinder treatments (for the fuel tank) are the best way to go, and that they really work. And most will admit to using it in their gasoline cars and trucks, also. If Lucas were not as successful at raising mileage as they claim, they would have been out of business a long time ago.

My truck and 300D, and CR-V all run quieter and get improved fuel mileage using Lucas. I have the records for all three should anyone wish to verify any snake-oil claims.

Just my opinion, based on my vehicles.

How many miles per gallon do you average in your 300D?

Also, what mix ratio do you use?

Thats because they sell fuel products for gas engines. You own a diesel. Big difference, look up the fundamentals of the two.

I have tried DK, Lucas, and MMO in my 300SDL. What works best is pouring a half gallon of B100 into the tank before filling it up. The car runs quieter and has improved mileage from the 24-25 I was getting to 27-28 in normal driving and to over 30 if I keep it under 80mph!

I use the B100 until the temperatures drop to under 40 and then I go with the DK. Of course now that I read the linked study, I will stay away form anything that increases wear like MMO...

i have played with the 2 stroke premix and still maintain that the engine is quieter and has more 'SOP' power (off boost) than without it.

Could it be a cetane improvement?????
