I have enjoyed this thread very much. Although I knew generally how the DD worked it is now much clearer.
It is a pleasure to see some fairly subtle things discussed and explained clearly and simply. Thank you Gentlemen. |
Oh I'm not sure that this thread draws an accurate picture of the operation of a DD engine:
Pour oil in, oil leaks out. DD taught the British how to leak oil. |

Are you talking about a Detroit or a Harley? Oh, I guess they are both the same in this regard. |
Harley's were known to be leakers up to the Shovelhead but that went away with the Evolution engine since the mid 80s.

My '91 Road King does not leak or use oil and it is showing right at 37k miles. Don't ask how many rear tires it has been through though:eek:.

Let's be more specific here... The Scots don't have anything to do with it. So is the English to be more accurate :D:D:D We don't try to built cars that leaking oils all over the English country side, we just drive them.:D:D:D We are too busy playing bagpipes :D:D:D http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...e/pipelass.gif The average Englishman in the home he call his castle slips into his national costume, a shabby raincoat, patented by Chemist Charles Macintosh (Mac)from Glasgow, Scotland. En-route to his office he strides along the English lane, surfaced by John Macadam (Tar Macadam)of Ayr, Scotland. He drives an English car fitted with tires invented by John Boyd Dunlop,(DUNLOP Tires) Veterinary Surgeon of Dreghorn, Scotland. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D |
