What's Up with all these non MB Diesel Threads?

Maybe the name of this forum needs to be changed to "Dieselshop.com"

I was following the Jetta thread, then this morning I noticed a Honda diesel thread and a 6.2 GM Diesel thread.

SOooo.... just a reminder, regardless of what the butt holes at Mercedes Benz think about the name Mercedesshop.com, this is still a discussion forum for MERCEDES BENZ AUTOMOBILES and even TRUCKS!

That's my $0.02, so call me an A$$ hole if you want.

I think it is because no other BBS has the people and knowledge found here.

You cannot blame us for posting where we get answers.

Come to think about it, I am having issues with the engine in my old Diesel CJ5's Perkins. Anybody know how to set the injection timing on this bad boy?

(just kidding...)

I don't see the harm.
When I have a question about something, these are the folks, mostly, that I want opinions from. That is why I get irritated when a wheel question gets moved to the vacant Tire and Wheel forum. [insert cricket chirping here]
Regardless of the bastardized name our website now enjoys, this forum has always been "Diesel Discussion", not "Mercedes Diesel Discussion".
However, can the opinion of somebody with a "Rogue T" obsession really be trusted......

Thanks for pointing me to the Honda/VW threads. Though it looks like I won't be replacing my 240D with one of those anytime soon as Honda has already scrapped plans to sell diesels here, and I don't care for timing belts. But they were interesting.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I see your point Larry, but LUVMBDiesels has a point. If I could post on another forum about another diesel non-MB vehicle and get the expert advice like I can here I would. The problem is I can't. This forum has the most knowledgeable people when it comes to diesels of any variety.

I don't see the harm.

Not all non-MB diesels are inferior.

Okay, the jig is up!

A few days ago, I saw a ressurrected thread that Carameow had started. Carameow was a wonderful guy and great poster here for most of the almost ten years I've been posting here. Carameow seemed to pop up with subjects that would attract two dozen posts a day and they were only loosely related to his Benz.

Carameow also posted very good technical threads and technical responses, but I remember him most for his gift as an online entertainer.

It was my remembering him that made me start a thread with a somewhat controversial tone. The amazing part of it was that no one took me up on my offer that they could call me an .........

You guys are great.

BTW, I am queer for diesels, regardless of brand, so I kind of enjoy the occasional non MB diesel conversation. The odd part is that the only running diesel left on my place is my tractor.

I could never in a million years keep my car on the road without this site. That being said, threads about GTI or Peugots or whatever are no help to me whatsoever. The true beauty of this forum is its specific orientation to pre electronic MBZ diesels.

All car makes and models are very specific. I'm sorry for all the Powerstroke, Duramax and GTI owners out there who dont have the same resource. Maybe if they would work at it, like the posters do here, they could have a site of their own.

For me, keep it MB! I just wish there were more w201's on the road (or maybe they're so reliable they dont need a lot of searching on the internet)!!!

BTW, I am queer for diesels

I hooted at that line. I guess I could say the same too.

My favorite machinist's son (who works with him and is at age 32 or so is a very accomplised machinist too) used to say that I am "ate up with those mercedes".

Hey I took it for a serious thread (I did wonder a bit about it).

You are entitled to your opinion and have earned the right to say pretty much whatever you want here without anybody calling you any names.
