99% of the threads here are MB diesel related. I don't mind an occational non MB diesel related post. Reminds us MB deisel heads that there are other diesel heads out there and other diesel stuff out there. Also educates us out other diesel stuff that we may not find else where. If the diesel discussion starts to get over run by non MB diesel stuff then I think it's time to crack down. That's my

I propose a solution

Why not have a subsection to the Diesel Discussion section called

Inferior Diesel Discussion

Not all non-MB diesels are inferior.

C'mon gang, stay focused.

Did I mention I would never trade in my two MB diesels for one Camry???

Let's revive that thread.

This Diesel discussion part of the forum is the one Iam primarily in. I feel
at home and comfortable here.

Every thread doesn`t stay on topic all the time, they all drift some before someone gets it back on track.

So this is for discussing the Diesel engine, then any other part of the car should be taken up in another part of the forum. I know that is not going to happen, just splitting hairs here.

When we are hashing over something on our w123 and w126, and those newer MB Diesels (I stop at 85 ) we feel in our hearts that the whole car is diesel. The Diesel Forum is the most active and with knowledgeable Diesel vehicle related owners, there is someone here that has done the job, or enough have done it to walk us through it.

This is about DIY repair and manintenance. the newer Diesels coming on the market are great, but will be junk sooner as they get past the warranty and repairs will be costly. DIY will be nonexistant for these.

I see Larry`s point about bringing in none MB Diesel vehicles, this is MercedesShop. but that get`s back to, this is where a lot of us are comfortable here. It` Home .

OH, by the way, Iam have ing some trouble with my Datsun Diesel, it seem to
be lacking power, using too muvh fule,a n sk bla bla bla etc.....

I'm in the camp of "regardless of the subject, these are the folks I trust to give good advice." That doesn't mean I'd come in every single day for advice on how to fix a Crown Vic. But once in a while, I don't think it hurts anything if it's not excessive. It doesn't just make me want to chain-saw the computer every single time I see an OT thread. They seem to be pretty well limited naturally; I don't see (personally) a huge excess of non-diesel threads.

This thread should be moved to the wheel and tire forum.

In seriousness, I post here when i need real answers to real issues.

i respond here when others need solutions that I have.

Even though i am starting to get into some gassers, this is still the first forum i visit each day.

Okay, the jig is up!

A few days ago, I saw a ressurrected thread that Carameow had started. Carameow was a wonderful guy and great poster here for most of the almost ten years I've been posting here. Carameow seemed to pop up with subjects that would attract two dozen posts a day and they were only loosely related to his Benz.

Carameow also posted very good technical threads and technical responses, but I remember him most for his gift as an online entertainer.

It was my remembering him that made me start a thread with a somewhat controversial tone. The amazing part of it was that no one took me up on my offer that they could call me an .........

You guys are great.

BTW, I am queer for diesels, regardless of brand, so I kind of enjoy the occasional non MB diesel conversation. The odd part is that the only running diesel left on my place is my tractor.

I could never in a million years keep my car on the road without this site. That being said, threads about GTI or Peugots or whatever are no help to me whatsoever. The true beauty of this forum is its specific orientation to pre electronic MBZ diesels.

All car makes and models are very specific. I'm sorry for all the Powerstroke, Duramax and GTI owners out there who dont have the same resource. Maybe if they would work at it, like the posters do here, they could have a site of their own.

For me, keep it MB! I just wish there were more w201's on the road (or maybe they're so reliable they dont need a lot of searching on the internet)!!!
