Tried to remove ALDA
...and what happened instead of the ALDA coming off is that bolt/fixture, that attaches the ALDA to the IP decided to break free instead. Realizing that I didn't like this I decided to thread it back in. Now I have no low end power.
-Never completely remove the ALDA from IP -About 3/4 of an inch of threads was showing. -ALDA is back where it was -Nut was clock wise turn and ALDA counter and not movement so then i tried the nut CCW. that's where things are now. What can I do now? Car runs and idle fine just no power. Any help is appreciated and let me know if I have a mess on my ands. I'd like to fix this asap. 85 300D Last edited by Manual Life; 10-23-2010 at 05:47 PM. |

Do you have the '85 IP on there with the TPS? Or an earlier one?

It's supposed to break free. It kinda just rattles loosely there once you get the alda off.

To be clear about the nut holding the ALDA, when looking down from the top of the engine onto the ALDA, the nut needs to be turned CW to loosen the ALDA. The nut belongs to the IP and stays on the IP when the ALDA is freed. The nut will sit there and rattle around with the ALDA off, but no matter.
Take the ALDA off to get your power back.

85 IP with TPS, don't think so. Installed it in my 84 body without having to connect another line. There is a wire coming from the front of IP (toward radiator) and on the engine block side but that was useless for my 84.
aaa- yeah, it broke free but allow me to clear it up. The nut to the ALDA is still locked on the nut. What happened was that the assemble that is attached to the nut and goes down into the IP is what started to come out. What I am wondering is: 1) have i screwed things up? 2) or can I remove the the nut assembly from the IP with the ALDA still connected, disconnect ALDA out of the IP, reinstall the nut and assembly back into the IP? all that without damaging anything if anything hasn't already been damaged. |

false alarm, sort of. i did a 10% spaz out just didn't want to ruin anything.
done with wife's help. btw, what were the threads that were showing? they were to fine and to many in number to be from the ALDA. ...much improve power. aaa-very clever name. inspiring even |
