The side-exhaust is purely logistical, front drive-shaft runs along the passenger side.
Not too concerned about the cool factor...I'm already driving an early land cruiser with an om617 ![]() Need to put some miles on my newly improved cruiser...monitor EGTs and adjust ALDA. for the record, open exhaust isn't as load as you might think.

I had to cut my exhaust to remove the rear sub frame over the weekend after I had everything installed except the exhaust I drove around the block holey crap it was loud, it was cut right at the ebrak adjuster, no carpet in the car, rust repair going on. I am sure it would be different if it went all the way to the back.
