That may be somes formula that works, mine is driving a w123 for daily transpo--No way I would consider a 95 accord instead, and it works fine for me, I wouldn't think twice about doing the regular check list before heading to the other side of Texafornia, and the projects to fiddle with on the side are 70 yr old collector trucks, and 60's cars.

Tyler,

Just go ahead and drop the 124 / 300D off with me on the way north. You know you are going to sell it to me sooner or later.

Jimmy,

You will recall I am the one that walked you through how to "noodle" you 123 years ago

Sounds like you guys are having all the fun!

Enjoy,

Clay

Perhaps the best reason IMHO to drive or ride in a 4-door Mercedes-Benz is the proven reputation of being a crashworthy vehicle.

Even full-sized American brand automobiles, SUVs, and pickup trucks are not all that safe to be involved in a crash when riding in one.

The problem is you never know if or when you will be involved in a crash.

First, It sounds like the decision/sale/purchase is a done deal so just hope that he still comes to the site and adds in his wit as well as what he has learned in owning these cars.
Before I got my 85 3ooSD I still came here and the performance paddock/hot rods because this is an eclectic and extremely knowledgeable group here ( Not me though !)
On a side note brownrice78 I think I have seen you on the road locally-----Great rides !

1 there is no nicer car than a w123
2 the aparatus is gonna nag you anyway, so might as well stay w/ what you love
3 for the teen, Chopper Reid would tell her to "harden the f@¤≤ up!"
4 i'd give my left nut for a clean 240d if it had a manual trans
but hey, if a fancy honda makes ya happy, enjoy!

I'm rather fond of the Lexus LS 400/430

By the end of summer I plan to have my fleet narrowed down from 7 to 3. But I'm still gonna have one that makes clickity clacketa sounds.

My kids are not getting younger, and my time working on my wagons is limited due to spending it with them. SRJ and Jimmy's got it right, and if my wagons need to much more work then they'll have to go also. My mom gave me Dad's -03 Chevy Venture and it's the family car.

I've considered doing without any car the last 6 years or so. All the heavy miles I'm putting on my diesel coach anyway......

I really don't need a car, since I am putting less than 3K miles a year on the '99 300 ETD - and it's all local miles nowadays. I don't enjoy throwing hundreds of dollars a year away insuring it, when I'm basically not driving it.

That's probably the biggest reason I won't miss my '99 300 ETD when selling it - I frankly just don't need it anymore.....all things considered....

You'll have to be careful that you don't habitually reach for the diesel pump some sleepy morning and have your tank half full before your realize what you are pumping.

Clay,

The whole reason I sold you the E320 wagon was to find a 95 E300! It wasn't easy. While I've bought plenty of MBs in the interim I've always been searching for a worthy '95 E300. Hopefully the wagon is treating you well? You can send me back those AMG Aeros and stereo if you want, but I think Deborah is really attached to them. She sent me a great photo this evening of the car all polished up.

Perhaps I should clarify just a bit. {not to think my situation matters, but I did start the thread}
I'm just doing this right now because it is the best thing to do at this time. I am not doing this because I don't still dig these cars. Quite the opposite. For various reasons I just need to not worry about vehicular situations. The little family company I work for right now needs all hands on deck from all of us to make this work. Coming off my oldest daughter's wedding and two surgeries for my wife, and braces for my youngest I don't have the funds required to keep three cars ship shape. Lack of time is even more of a reason.
"You have to give to get", you have to have something somebody wants, and you need some good fortune. It takes all 3 of my diesels in order for me to get something nice. Tyler wants the Batmobile. And Tyler has the knowledge, resources and time right now to pull it off. Plus he is nice enough to help. {Did I mention he wanted the '95?}
So, thanks for so many kinds words. Thanks for the various counterpoints. Most had merit or were driven by passion for these cars. Oh, and there was one Jackwagon! {not you Joe. I've come around on you}
Sheesh, all this just to say that I'm not leaving the forum. This is my interest. I love these cars. I'm so very rapped up into my buddies here. Good friends on here! Some I will never meet in person, some I see from time to time. But this is the one place I most enjoy hanging out. The place I am most interested in the subject matter. The place that needs my ever present vigilance against rogue-ness!!

I'm so pleased to find that it is so top of mind!
I hope I can attend GTG's even though I'll be driving a rice burner. Maybe I will finally pull my '67 Camaro out of moth balls. I'm sure my sainted mother would love to have it out of her garage.

I have that jotted down in my "MB Shop book". Sadly my brain pan doesn't keep that kind of info handy for me. I have to write stuff down because it doesn't hang with me for long. Really.....
That has helped me on several of these. Lots of other folks too I imagine. Wow, that was a while back too.
