Making the "inner city" livable for everyone, not just the (darker skinned) underclass, (also seen as a communist plot) would reduce (often unnecessary - telecommuting anyone?) absurd commutes in from equally absurd mc mansion burbs.

You hit the nail on the head with the inner city comment. I have lived in Europe as a young man, and am here to says this based on my experiences:

The rail system in most European countries is wonderful, However when you take in the population density and the actual land area versus what we have here in the US (and Canada for that matter) the rail idea just wont work. Too much area not enough people.

And it also helps that the US and Nato rebuilt most of the rail over there after WW2. Just sayin.........

FWIW, for the first time I can remember, diesel fuel is now cheaper than regular unleaded in the DC metro area.

I'll look again today but I thought both the W Express and Free State (at Germantown Road and 355) had lower diesel prices. I'll post back if I'm wrong.

Man you're close! I live up in Clarksburg off of 270. The station I trust is the Sunoco next to EuroMotorcars. I've had a bad tank or two from that FreeState.
