interesting engine choice for your 84...
what's it out of? or is just the power steering reservoir cap and IP older?
it looks like a set of M pump Injector lines, and the PS cap nut is a wing, instead of the plastic jobby...

Yep M pump, nothing special, if anything its slower because I haven't messed with it at all. Had a problem with the MW on the droner engine and I had the M pump on the bench, so it got put on ahead of schedule. I think the engine is out of an 81 or 82 SD. It had the tach pick up on the harmonic balancer (now on the flywheel). The guy at the dismantler didn't know anything about the engine of where it came from. lucky for me it check out with good compression, so it was a keeper!

My engine bay is a collection of random Mercedes parts. the PS pump came with my last engine, which was an 81.

I've got this persona amongst my friends for hating plastic.... its only half a joke, I break plastic clips, molding, ect all the time. So whenever I can find a replacement part that is metal I'll snag it. I have a primer pump that is metal and the plunger looks like a bottle cap. Its awesome! but the pump base is for the MW pump, so I need to install it on the M pump base.

Hmm, I do have a can of Caterpillar yellow around and the engine on a stand, ... or Caterpillar white (for marine engine) around, would show an oil leak much faster than the factory black.

That's a diesel-head's pin-up, if I've ever seen one.

I have two to show off, the 190D is not done yet. And the other is my 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo 6.7, the other one the wife has at work. Not as clean as some of the others but still nice.

Where the torque converters painted yellow for a reason?

My 81SD had a yellow torque converter also.
The 83SD I got the engine out of was just plain and unpainted.

Some real nice cars guys!
You look at all the colors simply amazing!
Lots of hard work.

I definitely love the simplicity of the 240D.
Seeing it clean makes it even better.

Its not yellow, that is rust. It has been sitting like that for awhile.

Why would you remove the snorkel and drill holes in the air cleaner housing? You just took a factory cold-air intake and downgraded it to a hot-air intake. Bad move.
