$69 Fuel Saving Chip???

Can this really be put on an '83 300D??? They list my car, but I didn't know I had anything resembling an ECM. I know that these chips have successfully been put on large trucks and Cummins (Dodge Ram Pickup) truck, but all of the trucks that I'm familiar with that have the fuel saving chips, have complicated ECMs.

Has anyone ever used one of these chips, on an '83 era 300D? And if so, was it successful in increasing mileage 4 - 8 mpg?

Can't be done

Your 83 uses an all mechanical injection system there is no interaction with anything electronic except for sensors which measure temps for the temp gage or fan switches and such. Cheers Dan

... no.
still no.
it's always going to be no.
I don't care if you plug it into a flux capacitor... it's not going to affect ANYTHING on the 82-84 300D, I doubt it would do anything to an 85-93D...
PERHAPS if it came with an electronic IP, and a computer controlled timing setup... several thousand dollars of equipment it may effect mileage...
aside from that...
NO.

notice in the $ saved box it states figures are compared to the 12MPG of the car...

Your car doesn't have an IAT (intake air temperature?) sensor. Gasser 280s (M110) don't have an IAT sensor either.

For crying out loud, they list it as compatible with a GM EV1. That confirms they're idiots.

Obviously they will list every car ever made, that makes sure that they can get as many people to buy it as possible.

WEll, if it can't be installed on a given car, it will be sent back immediately under their warranty policy, so . . . can't figure out why they would list cars that it can't be installed on. Maybe for Shyts and Giggles, I'll give them a call tomorrow and drive them crazy , . LOL!!!

Any one wanna join in the fun phone calls on their 800 number? Maybe if they get enough crap over the ad, they'll fix their ad to reflect only the cars that it can plug into.

Hey . . . they also offer it for the '76 240D . . . I sent them a message, questioning their product and it's fitness or useability on our cars. Though you'd enjoy following it.
