I tried but e-bay gives me some kinda error like, due to the high volume of messages he gets, you can't send him a message.......

Hi I found a picture it dosen't show the air filter snout properly though..... http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01406/240D-1e_1406277c.jpg
See the one I had just has a rubber cone with a bend in it and nothing on the end.....

I'll be willing to go with the US spec one that has a rubber or plastic bracket at the end that screws on to the body on top of the lights? or wherever, once it turns morning I'll go take a look and see if my car has the holes for it on the metal structure above the right hand side headlight.....

Thanks!

I just took a look and it seems that I have three screw holes on the panel above the right hand side headlight..... so I'll be willing to purchase the US Spec kind..... also my headlights are not the type with two round lights... the car is from the UK..... so if nothing interferes, I'll go ahead and purchase it from here

Has your car got a diesel engine in it?

According to the Russian EPC (link posted previously) a 123.220 is a petrol engined car. (2 litre petrol)

The air filter looks very different from the picture you found on the telegraph...

...what's the number on the engine you've got fitted to the car?

I can't find a part number either, the epc shows the part (I think), but the pages I find don't have that particular number.

Yeah that's the exact part! #3a in the first picture is it, although like I said I'll also be willing to go for the "hood version" if the pipe one is not available......

And yes from what I know the car is an original diesel... perhaps the russian site is wrong.... or maybe I am

Thanks

I don't have the Euro version of the epc and don't know exactly what to look up to find that number if it's even available to me. If you have a dealership nearby, they may be able to help, or someone here perhaps.

My local dealer doesn't like giving out part #'s tho.

Good luck.

Like I said I'll be willing to go with the US version then if it's compatible, I even said the car has the screw holes for it.
I can't call DIMO (dealers) since they are a bunch of dicks! and they just hang up.
So I'd rather just end this by going for the US spec one.

How about measuring the Diameter a crossed the inlet portion of the Housing you have.
If it is the same as mine then the US one may work.

In the 4 years of reading the various Mercedes Forums I have not seen the info you want to know ask for. Meaning that no one in the US or Canada may have done actually done the swap.

Right I'll measure it and post back within an hour, my biggest concern though is that the lights on the euro version is different compared to the US, I read that some guy had done a swap to the euro lights on his car and the engine seemed less powerful since then and that's because the air filter snout was being obstructed by the bigger euro headlights

Thanks

I don't recall seeing that air intake set up at the local junk yards (no 240's but a few 300's right now), good luck finding it.

Hi, the US version and the Euro version both have the same size inlets........
So the standard US version would fit mine
