Automatic tranny experts out there?

I have this automatic tranny which came from a 240d I am pretty certain. I am not sure which one though. It could be from an 81 that I converted to manual a long time ago or from the 74 that my lovely daughter #3 put gasoline in and ruined the motor.

Can someone tell me how to identify the year of one of these trannies?

The one from the 74 is one I know to be an excellent shifting tranny. The other one I only know worked well enough to drive a car onto the trailer with a blown rod.
