A feret lives in my transmission

Not really, but at certain MPH I receive a sort of deep chirping sound from the back of the trany tunnel. It is not flex-disc, tany mount, anything in the center console, not linkage or linkage bushings, or shift assembly.

Question, will a failed drive-shaft support make some racket, deep chirp?

This might sound crazy, but have you tried giving your exhaust system a good wiggle in a few places? They can make some pretty odd noises if the supports get loose or they start to rub against something. Also, take a look for shiny spots where the exhaust has been rubbing the driveshaft -- had that happen once, too.

I did. I had it up in the air and everything seems good, though the drive-shaft support definitely needs replacing but I don't see how it could make the same sound when it's rotating (the drive shaft) 25mph and 40mph, then silence.

But, the sound will be gone and I will drive over a rough surface and the ferret will pipe up for a moment.

Went through the center console. All is good, pulled the shifter, all bushings are fine.

My bet is on the center support bearing. My coupe had the same sound. It actually sounds more like a guinea pig than a feret!

Definitely was the unknown animal. However, it was the actual rubber support to the drive shaft and not the bearing.

For about 3 months I thought I was being paranoid about a very slight vibration from the rear right. It turns out that was the support partially torn. When it bacame worse it came to life with sound and when it finally tore entirely the car could not have been driven over 30mph without serious racket and damage and I would suggest never driving it at all with the support failed like mine.

The risk of driving it with a bad support it far worse than a bad cv-axle and probably on par with a bad flex-disc. My u-join will have to be replaced soon because of the support failure. I'm just glad the support went bad at 20mph rather than 70.

I suggest having it checked out if you haven't before. It's a very easy DYI. And when you do it, purchase the part with the bearing in it and not without. The bearing is a very tight fit and I had to use a press to get it done correctly.
