Oil cooler wrench access

I have read everything i can find on the board about removing oil cooler lines. Most info deals with line removal from the cooler end. What are the pitfalls of removing lines from the filter housing and how do you get a set of wrenches on the lower line nut? Has any one ever replaced a lower line without removing the engine mount? This is on a w126 with AC.
Thanks.

Round up a cheap 12-point box end wrench and cut out a section large enough to slip over the hard line. (Something like a line wrench.)

What ever you do, be sure and double wrench the fitting. I used a line wrench and a modified box wrench, as mentioned before. Apply penetrating oil and make sure everything is very clean before disconnnecting and reconnecting. The cooler has aluminum threads and the slightest amount of grit will gall the threads.

The lower line can be replaced by just taking the motor mount loose and jacking the engine just enough to slip the line out. However, many have had a frustrating time with the lower line and removal of the mount probably would be easiest.

Thanks to you all. You have answered my question on the wrench. Now can I wiggle this line in without pulling the engine mount. I can't believe MB would do this to us.

On the 617.952s the Back up Wrench at the Oil Filter Housing is 24mm and I had to thin the Head on mine so it would fit between the Hose Nut and the Oil Filter Housing.
