I may try to make it. Depends upon the night before (it's my kind of birthday party, watching an original film print of Vertigo on the big screen then dinner and drinks, so I may not feel up to driving 4 hours northeast.)

It sounds like a lot of fun though. But which Benz to take? My 1978 300D (which has already made the trip up to Providence and is for sale) or my 1972 220D which is about to embark on a 2000 mile drive to New Mexico? Choices, choices...

If anyone from the NYC area wants to go, let me know, we can convoy!

I know the follow-up question: why don't I host one?
Good idea! Maybe I will, just let me get the 2-year old off to school and check back in a couple years. It will be a great fest; getting ideas from all these awesome gatherings

Enjoy drivers!
I'm up for a BBQ weekend, eastern nc BBQ catered in Mayberry. The Nunn brothers bluegrass pavillion, slack family bluegrass band and a field full of old clacking Benzes. It will be epic.

Any excuse will work, right? Change the installation date and go meet the group and have some fun.

Dang if it wasn`t so far away I would be there. I have to drive over to Carson City, Nv (280 miles) to help my 91 yr old Mom, and take her to a Dr. apt on Monday.

HMMM wonder how long it would take to drive to Rhode island?

Unfortunately, my schedule gets very busy next week... I barely have trouble justifying working on the car. My Buick is sitting right now because I don't have the time to align the front end... the Corolla has no tunes (!) because I have no time... I have lots of stuff I'd like to put up on eBay but I don't have enough time to photograph stuff and list it... my room is increasingly cluttered because I have no -- you guessed it, time!

Part of the reason that I am so short on this precious commodity is that I had a concussion earlier this year because someone blew a stop sign and spun my car around. I lost about two months of schoolwork to that, and lost more time in addition this summer because my mother had surgery to remove a brain mass that had caused a serious blood clot (I am homeschooled and she is my primary teacher). Since I will be applying to college this fall and need to get lots done, I will be lucky to have much of any free time besides Sundays.

Dang it Charlie, it's any excuse that you can come up with!

Ill be there for a bit in an 85 300D. I have future inlaws in town, so won't be able to stay for too long, but missed last year and don't want to repeat that this year.

Don't you dare show up in anything but the Astro. From now on you are required to bring that beast and no other to G2Gs.

lol, I didn't want to unload it before tomorrow. It has a ton of rotten wood and garbage in it right now.

I suppose I could unload it, but the 85 is so comfortable and smooth

Depending on the route and what you're driving, about 4 days.
If you're driving a 220D or an automatic 240D then budget 6 days .

I made it from Vancouver, WA to Philadelphia, PA in 4 days driving my 1978 300D.

As for the New England get together, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. It might be a seat of my pants kind of thing to decide on tomorrow morning but I have so much to do to get ready for the upcoming drive to New Mexico.
