You've got two lockout buttons on the window switches.

You got an extra heat seat button on the passenger side. Not stock in my 300d.

Heated seat switch would be by the ashtray. He's got two child safety locks for the rear windows.

Yeah, it's cracked. Fix that.

DieselPaul thats pretty funny but you and mannys9130 are correct, I swapped a driver side switch set in for the passenger side. I wanted a way to control a higher Waste_Gate setting and not have to add an aftermarket switch. I didn't take a picture of the new wastegate plumbing but the switch is wired to a solenoid valve.

The valve is normally open which uses the stock wastegate spring tension. When the switch is closed, it closes the valve and the pressure signal is sent to a manual boost controller set to about 11 PSI. Its a simple ball and spring type.

I really admire the way these cars are built and the way they look so I didn't want to disturb the interior appearance. It's the non-invasive way I could think of for the set-up, but there's not much I can get past you guys haha.

And yeah its cracked, I think the PO had something to do with that. The plastic peg is broken indicating someone pulled straight up on the back of it. I'll have that fixed soon.

I'm aware that without adding more fuel, there won't be a large increase in power but I wanted to see what difference a few PSI would make.

This is what I've noticed; when accelerating, the wastegate will normally start to actuate early, well before the max spring tension. This creates a slight lag once 4th gear engages. With the MBC, the boost curve is much sharper, pressure builds more consistently and stays there until you release the pedal.

I've been using less pedal lately and acceleration has improved. Its just nice to have a little more power when you need it, just push the button and you've got some extra get up.

I like the idea of using the factory switch as a low-key add on. Great idea!

On my 123, I installed a *really* simple home-brew setup that can be made with a small one-way brass valve with a simple ball & spring inside. I got it from Graingers, but it's been many years ago so my memory is fuzzy.

It delays the boost pressure signal from reaching the wastegate until boost has built up enough to overcome the valve's pressure setting. That allows the wastegate to stay seated longer before opening, as they have a tendency to open a bit and bleed off before full boost is achieved. If you combine the "new" valve AND adjust your wastegate to factory specs, you get a much nicer throttle (?) response. There would be no need to switch between the two functions, as you would not exceed the factory boost specs. (if that's what you set your wastegate at.)

If the ALDA is working properly, it *should* add fuel extra fuel when it senses that you're pushing 11psi instead of 8.

And I'm sure the alda is increasing fuel to match. Tonight i activated the switch with headlights behind me and i could still see some smoke. I know 11.5 is the upper limit from the factory so I assume with the ALDA working correctly, there will be enough fuel to match the extra pressure.

I will say though, its obvious that I have added complexity to the simple wastegate hose. There used to be 2 hose clamps on the 3/8 inch hose, now there's fourteen. Of course you could go with a 2 stage boost controller for about $220 but then you would have to rely on that solenoid for both passages to the waste-gate. This was the least complex way I could think of to have the two different settings. The solenoid valve was $80 shipped from Dudadiesel and its stainless with viton seals for up to 266 degree F. operation.

Part II Gentlemen

I cooked this one up in my mind for a while and just got done with the install. The PO installed a nice headunit in place of the original Becker and in doing so, he took the Fader wheel out of the circuit.

Well, I decided to put the fader switch to use once again. Excuse the mess in the floorboard, I got excited and made a video before cleaning up.

Enjoy
