Monovalve?

Greetings Gents,

First, I had the emppowering experience of locking the keys in the 79 SD while she was running. I spent about 30 hours acting as if a diesel was not burbling along in the driveway and clouding the neighborhood with noxious crap.

Second, I can't get the heat to shut off. I turn on the A/C and dial down the temp., but no go. I searched the archives for Monovalve, but am not certain of it's exact function.

Any suggestions. Many thanks.

Thanks for the input, Bill. One thing about this 79, it's a little bit different at almost evry turn. Is part of the expense of servo repair getting to the bugger?

I hate to disagree, but there is another symptom of a malfunctioning monovalve. I too was unable to shut off the heat on my '84 300SD. I replaced the pushbutton unit but still had heat. I then decided to take the monovalve apart and found out that it had become stuck in the full open position. after significant banging I was able to free the piston and now the ACC works great. I understand from others that this is a problem on the older Benzes with the monovalve, and is an easy fix. If only I could say the same about the servo unit.......
