Viper alarm ???

Our 87 wagon has a Viper 500HF+ alarm system that has worked well until i parked the car for about 4 months with the battery disconnected! Previously whenever i disconnected the battery and reconnected it the alarm would sound, pushing the #1 button a couple of times would shut it off and it would be back to normal function. This time when i reconnected the battery the alarm did not sound, but now if i open any door the lights start flashing, headlights fog lights ect;(no horn/siren) they will stop after a few minutes but start again if i step on on the brakes or open a door they start again.Called viper and got a procedure that was supposed to reprogram the alarm, then discovered that i had no valet button.Got one today plugged it in a tried the procedure it does shut off the alarm but as soon as a door is opened it all starts again. There is a red led that is flashing repeating 3 flashes.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated!

Thanks Stretch! I had read that info ,really no trouble shooting there it does say the alarm is programmable, but no info on how to do it.
The good news is i read somewhere online to try pushing the #1 button repeatedly so i tried it and after 12 times the lights stopped flashing and since then all is back to normal.Took me 3 days to find that so i hope this helps someone in the future.

Bloody nightmare - 3 days of google is enough to finish off any one! Glad you got it sorted.
