Help transmission prob

Ok I have 1987 300 diesel turbo 148k daily driver but my problem is today I noticed that if i take it up to high rpm it will not upshift correctly but instead rev if I do the same with half throttle or little more it shifts just fine. Recently it has had fluid and filter changed all vacuum lines are good shift linkage seems to be correct if driven nicely shifts firm and crisp only time I have any problem is if I rod on it any info or hell would be greatly appreciated om603.960

If the (recently changed) fluid level is not correct then you'll get trouble.

Check the fluid level as specified in the maintenance manual that's available on www.startekinfo.com

also what fluid, some have friction modifiers for Chrysler trans so they slip. Two I just read yesterday, that old transmissions that were never fluid changed, some owners feel slippage. The old fluid has so much clutch material suspended that, the clutch packs don't slip.So you may need a rebuild.

Are you slipping in all changes, or just going into 4th? Or are you saying that it slips on the downshift to 3rd? It makes a big difference.

I wouldn't say it's slipping at all shifts fine it won't shift at all at high rpm just holds the gear till I let off and rpm comes down then shifts fine if I drive normal or half throttle shifts great no flare up crisp firm shifts it just won't shift on it own at high rpm

Checked fluid this morning on cold temp was about 50 degrees and level was a little below the low mark which I belief is close to correct also I used Mercon 3 dextron 3 which is correct fluid type no additives

Tranny fluid should be checked with car ran for a while, may be 20+ minutes, and car idling. It has nothing to do with ambient temperature. Are you doing it right?
