Crankshaft part # question

Looking at the epc, the correct crankshaft for my vehicle is 6170310601

Is there a difference between this and 6170310501

It seems that the 0501 is more readily available

What year engine are you talking about and is it a Turbo version or Non-turbo version.

If it's a Turbo 617.95x crank, there shouldn't be any operational difference

.

It seems to me your '83 engine would actually have a 6170310501 crank from the factory.

The 6170310601 seems to be still available from the Mercedes Dealers new. So I would think it was casted as a replacement part. I don't really know, but that would be my guess.

Difficult to tell because I don't have EPC but on the interweb both of those numbers are being sold as turbo engine crank shafts

(Non turbo ones are slightly shorter because they don't have the extra cog for the chain driven oil pump - non turbo oil pump is driven by shaft from intermediate shaft and timing chain)
